OUT OF MY FACE DOCTOR
Introducing: Dr. Harold Fresh, The Asprins, The Banderas
Sisters, Nurse Cameron, Nurse Cannon, Edge Omen, The Translations, and Gang
Princess.
January 3rd,
If you have read a good amount of crime fiction in your life
you have probably come across stories about an underground doctor for criminals.
Quote un Quote Crime Doctors.
Since U.N. treaties state anyone with Beyond Human abilities
must turn themselves over to authorities as soon as they discover they have
said abilities and because of this the public medical profession has never had
much experience dealing with superhuman medial issues.
Outside the military guess which group of doctors have had a
chance to deal with Beyond Humans of varying types? Yep, underground doctors,
and one of Seattle’s best is Dr. Harold Fresh.
Dr. Fresh, besides having a name like an early 80’s rapper,
has an interesting back story. He did not come out of medical school and put in
an application to treat mobsters, hitmen, gangbangers, and outlaws on the run.
What did happen was the crime family of Seattle, the
Asprins, contacted him while he was in undergrad school. They offered him a
deal. They would full fund his education in total and also pay him a good
amount as a sort of good faith wage while he was in school. All to have him
come work at an underground clinic they would setup for him upon his graduation
from med school. He only needed to keep a low profile and he learned from paid
off football players how to do so.
It took him all of two minutes to except the offer.
Today in an only whispered about location Dr. Fresh was treating
a man later who lost two fingers after disappointing The Banderas Sisters.
The Banderas Sisters are the head of Seattle’s muscle rental
service. Be it as bodyguards or in the form of rent a thug, take someone into a
world of pain, or buy some human weapons. These former New York City
underground fighters have an alliance with the Asprin Family.
They are one more cog in the criminal activities in a city
most people see for the most part being free from large scale criminal
activity.
The surface of Seattle shines but within the body this city bleeds.
The city is fast growing into a city of the future much like Tokyo but it will
have to go a long way to wipe grime such as the Banderas Sisters out of
existence.
Earlier in the day Dr. Fresh treated another few bits of the
city’s grime as he treated one gun shooted bank robber, he euthanized a pedophile
on the run, and also removed a few dozen fingerprints.
That was normal day in Dr. Fresh’s clinic; which also houses
two former drug addict nurses and one computer expert who tried quitting a
government black operation.
Dr. Fresh never leaves the clinic.
The nurses are Cameron and Cannon.
Mr. I Never Leave The Clinic’s computer expert is Edge Omen.
And no I’m not even going to try and say that’s his real
name.
The clinic workers amuse themselves with celebrity gossip
and today they have been abuzz about Pulpy and Tina Phee.
What makes this day a not so normal day at The Odd is the
man sitting in Waiting Room 7.
Standing outside the waiting room is Dr. Fresh and Nurse
Cannon.
Dr. Fresh, ‘Are you sure?’
‘His arm is broken. The X-Rays show it buts its healing by
the minute.’
‘Does he understand?’
‘Yeah, it’s why The Translations have him guarding their
Gang Princess.’
‘Then why is he here? He has to know, because everyone knows
that we report all Beyond Humans to The Asprins?’
‘I asked. He said he wanted to talk to you.’
Dr. Fresh grabs the chart off the door, ‘Ok, here goes.’
He enters the room…
