NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 14

Delta wished for the sort of excitement that just happened and he continued his walk across the desert sands cursing every step. He is a winter climate person; ever since he was a child he hated the summer and the heat.
Climbing up a sand hill the thought struck him that he would love a drink of water, even dirty prison water would be good enough or even milk, though he hated the stuff having been forced to drink it so much when he was younger.
As he reached the top of the sand hill Delta stood to see out beyond and below him a great city. This must the city of Ecexl, which The Napoleons told him about. It’s the heart of Sunset Dies and the place where if anywhere else he will find his mission.
Having been informed about what he may encounter and what will stand against him, but in a way he did not listen much to when The Napoleons were talking, because Napoleons, he was just focused on another mission.
This is his life, point A to point B and no obstacles mean that much. What has to be done, has to be done.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 13

Quickly back to the story with Mark as he just darts back into the glass room shell shocked a little from the sight he just walked out into. He tries to tell himself this is a dream but it does not feel anything like a dream, nothing fuzzy in the short of feelings you get from a dream, even a most realistic one to the mind, this felt real, this felt like fear to the bone and he was scared to his bones looking back at the blinding light coming from the doorway.
He knew what was beyond that door and he really did not wish to go through it again. So he just sat down naked in the middle of the glass room with his head in his hands wondering what to do next.
But next turned out not to be in his control as marching into the room stepped three very large unusual individuals, unusual in the fact that each was human in appearance except for their bodies having four arms.
Though to be honest at this time he would not know if they actually were human in appearance at all because each one also wore a black armor that covered every inch of their bodies.
One of the large individuals grabbed Mark off the floor and tossed him over one shoulder like a small empty box to one of the others and barked out orders, ‘Take him to the castle. We need to complete our task. Our lord says he has already felt the presence of a Healer.’
Together the group of humans in appearance with four arms walked out of the glass room and into the white blinding light, one carrying Mark Mason naked like a child over it’s mothers shoulder reading it for a nap.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 11

Sunset Dies, One of The Pyramids Of Anger,
Mark has been throwing up for over an hour since waking from the unknown state he was in. Can you sleep or be not awake when sleeping?
A question for another time I think.
Mark slowly gets to his feet where he sees the bits of the black sludge that came down with him draining down through little holes in the glass floor.
He also finally notices that he now is not wearing a stitch of clothing. Unusual for his non-sex dreams but he will find nothing as usual in Sunset Dies.
With his feet barely able to stand he walks from the room out through a light so bright he could not even see what was outside the door to find himself standing in the middle of a desert and outside of a pyramid seven times the size of any found in Egypt or at least bigger than any modern man has ever sat eyes on.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 12

The Outlands of Sunset Dies,
Some people have this notion that Delta being The Dream Healer of The Dream Trail, that being The Dream Healer (not counting the fact that he is of The 9) has given him an existence with extra ordinary abilities and powers but in fact the only thing that separates him from others in the Dream Trail is the fact of him being a living, breathing flesh boy walking around within it and that is not something that happens around this neck of existence that often. Sure all within The Dream Trail have a solid enough existence but all but Delta and the citizens of The Trail have bodies or forms outside also.
One thing Delta wishes to not be true was how he traveled…well, not how as much as his arrivals so to speak. He can go anywhere he wishes within The Dream Trail when a task is finished but he arrives without choice of where to appear. Right now he just appeared in Sunset Dies in the middle of a desert with nothing in sight but Suns all above him and around him for miles there is only sand…and more sand…and it is nothing but hot….miles of sand…; so he starts one foot in front of the other and begins his journey across the sands.
‘I hate sand.’

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 10

The Home of the Napoleons, the Dream Trail,
Delta exited the kitchen cold beer in hand fresh from the icebox.
‘And this Sunset Dies location I take is not a vacation spot?’ he asked.
Delta sat down between the two old men on an old coldish brown couch with seams popping every time one of the men sitting on it moved an inch. One of the old men patted him on the leg, ‘It’s part of The Dream Trail but such a nasty part that a long time ago we decided not to have anything to do with it.’
The other old man spoke up, ‘Which was a mistake on our part since it seems like these days a lot of humans are getting lost in there for some reason. I think it has to do with all the so-called depression in the modern world.’
Delta looked at him while taking a drink of his beer, ‘So called?’
The old man to his other side, ‘People would be better off if they just enjoyed who they are and where they are. That is the problem as I see it.’
Delta sipped his beer and the old men spoke as if he was not there.
‘Just enjoyed who they were? Talk like that is why people are all “Me, Piety, Me, Hurt” all the time. No wonder they get lost in the trail. People barely get out of bed, more less leave their dreams.’
‘Yes but that is not to say there are not problems with the modern human mind.’
‘Laziness.’
‘Bull…’
Delta holds up a hand to stop the conversation and after he downs his beer, ‘I know you both are very wise and any time I spend with you has to be enriching but does any of this have anything to do with Sunset Dies in a way I need to know?’
Both as one, ‘No… Not really.’
‘What do I need to know?’
The old men as one got up in unison and walked over to a bookshelf, each taking a book from it and walking back to Delta where they tell him the whole story and what he needs to do to save the spirit.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 9

Sunset Dies,
This is a place of down turned spirits. A place of twisted notions and fear in every form you could possibly think of. It was once called a sister place to Hell itself for the pure despair it impales onto souls.
The landscape is basically sand, sand, and a few pyramids.
So a place you curse people to go to because you don’t care for them.
Mark’s dreams for the most part are patterned with nothing more than young girls in bikinis on beaches or young girls minus the bikinis laying across his bed at his condo in Daytona Beach.
He got it cheap, rents it big, and keeps the place looking cheap.
He never has nightmares, lives a good life without much worry and he goes through his days doing his job of Program Manager at a Florida based circuit board outsourcing manufacturer being a decent person, and playing video games without any sort of impact on the world at all.
But for the first time in his life after a life of above middle class privilege he feels true fear deep in his soul as he stands knee high in a black sludge that keeps trying to pull him down into its mass. The sludge is overflowing from a bathhouse pool in a Roman style bathhouse place type place.
Mark could hardly breathe as he struggled against the sludge trying to get to the side of the pool, the stench of the substance was near close to the taste of death itself and he has already thrown up once when he first arrived.
Sunset Dies has this effect on those who are within it that is unique to it compared to any other part of The Dream Trail and it is most definitely part of the trail. When a human being is within The Dream Trail they usually know it, some have very realistic dreams but for the most part people have the perception of knowing they are dreaming, but within Sunset Dies you do not perceive what is happening as a dream at all and for a matter of being able to tell this story without getting into metaphysics it is real in any manner of real meaning.
Mark barely makes it to the side of the bathing pool. Tired and worn out from the trek through the sludge and manages with a good deal of struggle to pull himself up and out from the sludge and out of the pool to rest for a second on the white marble of the bathhouses floors.
With his chest heaving in and out he opens his eyes to find a man in black Roman armor standing over him. The man picks him up with ease and tosses him back into the sludge pool. He makes the mistake of panicking right away and begins sinking very fast within the blackness. Then when he cannot hold his breathe a second longer his mouth opens and in pours the black sludge and he begins choking and having convolutions all the while continuing his descent within the pool.  As if a peanut squeezed from a tube of toothpaste he falls down through the sludge and the pool and lands hard onto the surface of a solid glass room, which was beneath the bathhouse. Now his chest is not heaving, it is not even moving, and if his eyes would open he would see black sludge water hover over the room like a huge ceiling of Jello in zero gravity.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 8

The Central Point of the Dream Trail,
They are old, ancient to the very nature of the word. Once they were called The Enlightenment but are now referred to as The Napoleons, a moniker given to themselves by themselves because they decided to wear uniforms formerly of the sort worn by the military leader from France.
They never use to have these kinds of egos but with the younger generations influence they felt compelled to compete in terms of flash and fashion.
The whole of The Dream Trail is technically their realm but they have their own little corner in a small little house not much different from what you may find in the countryside of any farming community.
They spend most of their days there watching television and constantly having Black Addler marathons being interrupted by business from the trail.
Today they have noticed that a spirit has gone missing. It entered the trail and now is off radar so to speak. Normal searches by all worker pigeon clans have turned up no trace. One of the worst parts of their job is when this happens and it happens much too often for their liking of late. They know where the spirit must be, a place beyond their sight and monitoring- Sunset Dies.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 7

The Dream Trail,
Right now The Dream Healer is taking a little respite. Just returning from cleaning up an old mess he is now deep in closed eyes and deep in a need for silence but also in need of listening ears.
Within The Dream Trail when you speak you never know what sort of ears you may find friendly to listen to you. All depends on where you are.
‘And here I always thought “castles built in the sky” was just an expression.’
‘Haven’t you learned yet mate that nothing within The Dream Trail is just an expression?’
Sitting on the edge of a sidewalk jetted out from the steps of the surrounding walls of a small castle floating in the air sat Delta, known in these parts officially as The Dream Healer, and sitting with him was a worker pigeon on his break named Gamache.
An old pigeon who sounds like he came from some Australian such place.
Delta’s red duster jacket blew back and then over his head from the winds and the red Mars dust that lives on it fills the air giving the area of sky the castle was floating in a reddish tent to it.
Almost like a sunset.
But more like death.
‘How is the construction going?’
Delta talked to the worker pigeon as he scratched at the skin on his left hand thinking about a mission that left him a burn that will not heal.
The worker pigeon looked back over his shoulder at the half built castle as other worker pigeons were going up and down on pulleys and walking along scaffolding.
Gamache looked up at Delta gives a smile and takes another bite from his peanut butter sandwich, ‘We’re getting close to a finish here I think and then we move onto our next castle build.’
‘There is always a next castle?’ Delta asked.
The worker pigeon stopped eating and looked at Delta as serious as any pigeon could look serious without trying to bite your hand off… or at least as serious as any talking pigeon could look, ‘Mate if we stopped building that would mean the children had stopped dreaming. Dump that, I say that would be sad. This is the lives of my clan from which we live.’
Delta stands up brushing off his jacket sending Mars dust flying and causing the worker pigeon to sneeze. He will never be clean of that dust. Some dirt never comes clean.
‘Leaving already Dream Healer?’
‘I do not belong here. This place is too pure.’
‘You can stay. There is a place for everyone here. Sort of the point of all dreams.’
‘I am not everyone and I have an appointment to keep. I appreciated the company and calm though.’
Delta steps off from the sidewalk into the sky.
Gamache packs up his lunch leftovers and heads back to his job of painting the castle walls. This castle will be painted green for a child in Boston dreaming of traveling the world and fighting the good fight.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES: PART 6

Sunset Thought,
It is a place within The Dream Trail.
Which by the way if you did not know is the realm of dreams.
In fact when it comes to Sunset Thought it is the place where the spirit rests between The Dream Trail and the flesh world.
The worker pigeons that keep everything in The Dream Trail working ship shape gave it that name of Sunset Thought because it contains nothing more than a bench placed on a beach and the sunsets rise in the sky over the water over and over again.
A golden shimmer of sunlight is replaced by the darker red of dawn and changes back over when dust comes back once again. It is in itself a high light of creational beauty. To a mortal spirit in this place it is most calming and keeps hearts from exploding when they exit The Dream Trail because humans were never meant to dream, they just took it upon themselves to do so.
There is another place also to which our spirit goes between The Dream Trail and the flesh world, a place not as pleasant as Sunset Thought. Anyone who has woken from a dream knows all dreams are not calming and most defiantly not all that pleasant to your spirit. The place you go between a nightmare and the flesh world is called Sunset Dies and every so often a spirit gets lost on its way to The Dream Trail and can end up trapped there. In cases like these a healer is needed to try and bring that lost spirit back from where it does not belong, The Dream Healer is called.

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES: PART 5

Sunset Dies,
The castle, palace, headquarters, or however you wish to address the structure is dark after a closing night of plea services. Key sits on his throne fresh with sweat from speaking to his people.
Every third night in Sunset Dies all citizens have to travel to the castle and listen to him speak about how he will help them heal and how they can help him in his quest to remove pain from creation.
Key is awaiting his chance. He knows it may not come today, or tomorrow, but it will and he will be ready when it does. His pain and those who have chosen to give themselves to him will be freed.
Standing up from his throne chair he pushes his toes forward and tight within his boots hearing footsteps approaching the throne room. The footsteps he hears are those of his only advisor, his only trustee, Selent Rand.
She is the life who named him and the focus of his quest.
‘Selent my trust, what news do you bring me of our lives here?’
Selent pushes her cape behind her back with both hands as she stops in front of him shoulders back and stance strong like a warrior, ‘My Rule we have another in your Kingdom.’
‘Happens every day my friend. Have the spirit brought to the city so we may lead them on the journey.’
‘But My Rule this is not just any other spirit. This one is touched by destiny.’
‘The spirit has the smell?’
‘Yes.’
‘Bring the spirit here quickly then. If this one is touched I think they will get involved.’
‘You believe they will send The Healer?’
Key holds his hand up to his face looking it over as if it was a piece of spoiled meat he was holding, ‘I do believe so and I have been waiting to meet this one.’

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 4

Melbourne- Florida, 2006
Mark Mason works a job. Please let me explain, some may understand what I state in meaning but for those who do not I will expose the statement thusly. His position is called a Program Manager. He hates it for the most part, not because he doesn’t like the work but because it’s with a company that puts him in positions where he has to lie…
Lie a lot.
A job of playing the customer and his bosses like toys in a game of personal gain for the monthly revenue statements.
But until he finds something else he will stay in the nearest field he believes there is to politics.
Maybe he should get into that and out of where he finds himself now?
His part time relationship, that description came from her and is in fact fading away because of his long workdays and her inability to understand his unwillingness to even enter into a discussion of having children.
Does this happen to politician’s lives?
After a long day and a long shower Mark just wants to crash and forget about the job and relationships.
The part time, her, she decorated his bedroom. Part Old West America, part Asian American Mall Stores. His bed was one he’s had since college. A queen size bed with black sheets and the air from his open window pushed in a little with a warm breeze.
It had finally started to warm up was his first thought when he drifted into his sleep. Florida in the flesh world had been extremely cold of late for a July time of year.
After that initial feeling though everything just went bizarre and free verse…

NO REFILL: WAIT UNTIL THE SUNSET DIES- PART 2

Called Key by his people, all those allowed to speak directly to him that is.
His first follower gave the name to him when he came into physical existence and placed his first footstep onto the sands of Sunset Dies. At that time the land was just…well, basically a wasteland of nothing but sand and a few empty pyramids.
The pyramids came out of the sands when the lands went into a rage at being abandoned by those who had taken on the charge of controlling what makes up Sunset Dies and the bigger lands that surround it.
The pyramids are the land’s expression of hate.
Key walked from the sands he came into life from to one of the pyramids where he found a young woman crying in one of the inner chambers.
She was lost.
She was alone.
He helped her off the floor and they talked. He talked about being ripped from his home, his peaceful lif, and being drafted into the plans of other beings, to fulfill roles they themselves could not do or just did not have the time to soil their hands with.
He told her of his anger at being alive at all in this existence.
She looked at him with nothing but tears in her eyes and spoke to him, ‘Tell me how to live without this pain.’
From that moment Key know what he must do if he was going to be a part of creation.

Friends having a meal before heading for a day of parks and all around fun in Orlando.
Jeff, ‘If more people had diabetes it would have destroyed the slave trade.’
Karen, ‘That’s a big bag of random stupid.’
Fox, ‘Explain yourself Jeff.’
Karen, ‘Oh, God no.’
Jeff, ‘If more people had had diabetes they wouldn’t have needed the slaves to cut the cane. No need for mass amounts of sugar and no need for mass amounts of slave labor.’
Karen, ‘What? But?’
Jeff, ‘Someone just needs to travel back in time, invent diabetes, and give it to everyone.’
Silence.
Their table was filled with silence.
