Drew was the type of coworker who everyone “work likes.” The kind who helps us get through days at jobs we would rather not be getting through any days at to begin with. But you would never spend any time with this type of person outside of work. If you walked into a bar and spotted him, on sight you would turn around and leave. Drew has a creep meter above his head and would set off alarms just walking into a Toys R Us.

The trenches of a toxic job can find you accepting ways of dealing with the environment and some of those ways aren’t any healthier than the toxicity of the place itself. The racist jokes. The sexism that is fucked up but we both hate management. The bits of theft. The breakroom gossip sessions. The extra long bathroom breaks so you can check your phone because they no longer allow you to wear earphones or even have you phone on you. What if I get an emergency call about Joann’s having a sale on art supplies? Pulpy might get his ass kicked. There are reasons for having your phone on you at all times.

*the artwork originally used for this installed has been removed after finding out it was based on a real person and people recognizing said person upon seeing the installment. I was not asked to remove it but because of the adult nature of said story concerns were raised about a connection happening with the Drew character and the real person. Drew was nice to work with. Not in just the lustful dreams sense either. Working this job I would be lusting after the bearded lady if she worked with me in an adult store. And I’m not much of a lover of female facial hair to be honest with you.

I’ve had strangers who have told me it must be easy working in this type of place because every man comes in wanting to date someone. One, fuck you, it's a job, and no, no they don’t. A woman working in an adult store is a display model, a pig in the window. You think men are scary drunk, try being around them with their hands never where you can see them.

This traveler began her ride toward now, now being Victorian London and then in 2017 Melbourne Florida in the Sunshine State of America during a July heatwave that wouldn’t drop for anything but dropped plenty, old people where dying in fives daily but in this state no one hardly noticed the percentage downward spin.

It was a hot draining day.

Every word used is a madness slur.

It really was a day that began as hot and demanding.

I was working as the manager of an adult entertainment store. A sort of dream come true since my internet connection was taken away. I miss my free porn clips. But this job has very little to do with this except as the setting for the beginning.

I was early for work as usually by footsteps of walking. I had no car at the time. The walk took an hour and a half. I left at 5am to get three by around 7am.

You expect things to make sense? It’s hot. I already explained that you ass.

Sitting outside awaiting the 1^st shift cashier to arrive. A alive thing with skin polished by god’s own hands and an atmosphere breathing around, in and out that was both innocence and tastefully dirty. Oh, she had a name also, Drew Westmoreland. Her family she said use to have an overload of money. That was before several strikes and a scandal involving her father and two employees.

If you hear a rumbling that is just my stomach. There is only so much moldy bread a body can take without talking back. The bastard of blood, muscle, and a little fat expects me to feed it on a daily basis. I think I need to explain to it I’m a student. One thing about being so hungry though is that it totally replaces being horny. Well, at least for now. The next time I can eat something that actually lived once I’ll go back to thinking dirty thoughts at the drop of a hat. Well wishing for the drop of a bra. Possible brain tumor bra delusions for everyone!

The whole week has been one big error message. I was sitting in the school café having some tea before class when I think every ache and pain reared their way back into my life. The cooler weather has made the arthritis in my knees start to hurt. The cheese sticks I ate last night plagued me this morning before leaving the house and I can feel as I eat this mac & cheese between sips of tear that the plague may make a comeback. A migraine was triggered by a story I was reading about a politician in the 20% Lung Party. Oh, and I’m seeing  them again. It had been months but they’ve returned.

GENERATION OF A GOD #23

I had a nightmare last night that I was a Beyond Human. Why do I consider that a nightmare? I’m glad I’m not a Beyond Human. That might make me sound like a terrible person but how do those people live day to day lives knowing not only that all the resources of the government are being aimed more and more at them but there is also one Big Youth Nazi  who is out there with a naughty or nice list. These people are an escape goat target for every finger to be pointed at. I donate money to Beyond Human rights groups, I’ve protested, and I’ve called and I’ve written letters, but at night I can put my head on my pillow and know my doors aren’t going to kicked down or my roof ripped off by Pulpy because I have horns. I can wake from my nightmare and calm my breathing knowing I don’t have to walk around with all that hate following my ever breath. Shits going down all over but it won’t reach me that bad because I’m not them. People are being crapped on daily but only sprinkles of that shit is going to hit me. My nightmares are just dreams, not reality.

GENERATION OF A GOD #22

I don’t know if people were punching and elbowing through the crowd or it was just what happens when masses of humans collide and don’t get knocked down and trampled on. If you’re not in the trampled position you’re being hit with arms and headbutts. The mass of screams, not the screams of joy at seeing a celebrity you had brought trading cards to sign, had impacted your hearing. Being in the moments I didn’t have time to even panic because I was literally just trying to keep my feet as I went from the front of the line, a great spot, towards the back-exit doors and that’s when I looked down for a second and saw her laying there.

She was supposed to be a surprise guest, but the news had been leaked a day before the signing. Her face looked like someone had sewed an octopus to one side of her face.

That’s why she always sported that head dress?

Even though smoking blood was rising from her face… she was so beautiful.

The man who shot into the crowd was shooting at her. Well, I didn’t know that then but it came out later when they searched his room. There are always rumors about this celebrity or that being Beyond Human. She was never on any list anyone had brought up.

Now the News and politicians are using the revelation as a reason that 27 dying wasn’t such a bad thing. More money needs to be thrown at attacking Beyond Human rights. Now even those without powers should be considered a threat because they are hazard to public safety.
