Patreon And Why It's Important to Us

Someone the other day asked me about my Patreon and what it's for and what it means to us at Tin Universe. Our Patreon is the main base of our free monthly comic Trees Sacrifices. You can join others at $1 a month in helping us continue to hire artists to work on not only Trees Sacrifices but also other projects at Tin Universe. Right now our Patreon and Pay Pay Donations are how we are able to hire a monthly artist to work on a Tin Universe comic, pay voice talent to work on Tin Pod Radio projects, and to buy some of the figures we purchase for unboxing videos. Almost everything we produce is released free and the few things we produce that costs anything is either for charity, or the money goes right back into more projects.

I usually don't talk about money stuff much here, and this isn't a we need your donations to continue because many are supporting us as I discussed before and I'm so grateful to all of you, but in no way will Tin Universe go on without support because I can't pay out of pocket for everything, already do a lot, but also because even though plenty of people might work for free that goes against the ideas behind what I want Tin Universe to be. I've gotten shit for holding back on projects because I couldn't afford to hire people. "People will do stuff for free." is a attitude I hate. The system has creeped into our brains because everyone should get paid for their work. So to end this short or at least short for me, if you want to see even more audio projects {we have 2 going right now with people being paid} more comics {2 going also with people being paid} and other things we can't do it without support.

Narrators for the adaptation of The Trinity Prophecy

illustrations by Melissa McManus

Tin Pod Radio is seeking 3 Chapter Narrators for the adaptation of Marissa Kinzel's debut YA fantasy novel, The Trinity Prophecy, to audiobook format.

The Trinity Prophecy follows the adventure of best friend duo Prince Neros and Princess Anthea as they solve mind-bending puzzles and unlock long-lost secrets of the magical world they live in, Endra. When they find their third hero of prophecy – a brusque swordsman, Leof, with no interest in heroics – how will they be able to convince him they need him to stop darkness and destruction from overtaking the world? Learn more about the book and debut author Marissa Kinzel on her website, marissakinzel.com.

Pay rate is $50US per completed chapter via PayPal each month upon delivery of each chapter. For audition paragraphs, please email hangofwednesday@gmail.com and cc kinzel.ma@gmail.com for all correspondence to this project. The deadline to audition for this project is April 14.

Prince Neros Virvatuli - (NEAR-ohs VEER-vah-too-lee) - A kind-hearted young Prince who is generally soft spoken and often puts others before himself. Noble by birth and certainly by nature, but he spends as much time as he can among his people. He’s a bit of a worrywart. A terrible curse befalls him, freezing his arm solid – he does his best to keep up a happy face amid the adversity.

Excerpt:

He was grateful to have Pontius with him, all scolding aside. He couldn’t imagine being alone, like Leof or Anthea. Down here, it was dark (though perhaps Leof could light his own way) and the atmosphere felt thick with something less tangible than the humidity. Sure, it was cool and damp and it made Neros’ clothes stick to his skin a bit uncomfortably, but there was something foreboding about these paths. Almost as though they were daring Neros to get lost.
Well, Neros found that quite unlikely, considering there was only one path for him to take. But the farther he walked, the narrower the passage became, until finally, he’d hit a dead end.
            He blinked.
“Did I miss something somewhere?” He wondered. When he turned around, Pontius wasn’t behind him. “Pontius? Hello?”

Leof - (LEE-off) - A serious, taciturn blacksmith’s apprentice and hobbyist inventor, Leof is a boy who tries to keep his distance. His parents forced him to the curb when he was small for having an interest in magic, so he practiced mostly in secret before Neros and Anthea recruited him. Beneath his gruff exterior, there is a soft spot (mostly for Neros).

Leof pressed his head against the ground, taking deep, concentrated breaths to focus his energy away from the crack. He cleared his mind, shoving the pain aside, and focused only on breaking free. He’d had enough of being belittled, tossed around by others. His quiet rage spewed forth in response, flooding as though a dam had broken, filling him with renewed vigor. The flames atop his head grew and whipped around, responding to a wind that was not present. This power…it is unlike anything I’ve felt. It isn’t a tool. It was locked away inside me, all this time. Hélder stumbled backward, eyes wide with fear, and the white ring of flames exploded away from Leof’s body. He stood, ignoring the crack in his arm—which had, thankfully, stopped leaking magma—and held out his hand, conjuring small balls of flames.
“Don’t underestimate me!” He shouted, second hand joining the first in the conjuring of flames. They danced around him like a taunt to his opponent. “I’ve dealt with far worse than the treatment you’ve given me today. I’ll show you what my discipline can do.”

Princess Anthea - (AN-thÄ“-uh) - She is a headstrong, brave Princess who would stop at nothing to get what she wants. She’s bold, she’s stubborn, and she’s charismatic, but she knows when to step back if she’s crossed a line. Her people love her, and she loves them all in turn as though they are her family.

Excerpt:

Anthea was lost. Hopelessly, irrefutably lost. She had turned the same corner and rounded back to where she began no less than ten times, but every time she thought she’d taken a new path, it led her back here. She ran her hands through her hair in frustration, groaning at the ceiling.
“Is this some kind of message?! Or is this sheer torture? A clue of any kind would be great right about now!”
She knew that yelling at the walls would provide no clue, or hidden secret, or cool entrance to a second layer of labyrinth beneath the first. She slumped against the wall, sliding down until her butt made a wet plop against the floor. I need to look for Rosea. I need to find her. I need to save the Arborians…all of them, they looked so… If she wasn’t fast enough, they would die. She understood the gravity of the sickly orange glow that Neros’ hands emitted when checking the life force left in their bodies.
